project background for

The Rudimentary Anatomy of a Sailboat

I had just finished "The Old School Roadster on a Budget" and was looking for the next project. I worked with Jack, who is a lifelong sailboat skipper. We were talking one day when he suggested we do something about sailing. I came up with the idea of doing a video for the wannabe sailboat owner. It would introduce them to all the new terminology and hardware related to a sailboat. This would give them a good foundation so that when they went out to shop for a sailboat, they would know what to look for and the questions to ask.
The title of the video is odd, but I wanted it to be crystal clear that this was not an advance sailboat presentation and the title is strange enough to be memorable.
We picked a beautiful Spring day and shot the video. The trouble was that it was too windy. When I got home and viewed the footage the wind noise covered over Jack's voice to the point it was hard to make out what he was saying. And some of the footage was blown out because of the bright sun and my camera's inability to deal with it.
I did finish the video and it did show on some local television stations, but it is not a good representation of my work.
